Founder Message - Sharada
Sharada loves, lives and breathes art. In her idea of a perfect world, everyone would either be creating, teaching or learning art. She confesses to being a late bloomer, in that she started to learn after her daughter was born. But in the decade and a half since then, she has crammed so much art into her life that it almost seems like she has been doing it all her life. Over the years she has taught thousands of students, but her thirst for learning has not diminished; on the contrary, she continually strives to learn newer art forms from master artists from all over India. Her repertoire of art forms is almost endless. Broadly, she dabbles in painting on all mediums, sculpture, murals and jewellery making. A more exhaustive portfolio of all that she creates and teaches is displayed in the "gallery" section.
As a teacher, she wholly subscribes to WB Yeats’ quote "education is not the filling of a pail; it is the lighting of a fire." She kindles the spark of learning in her students and then supports them as they go on to build a raging fire. She takes utmost pride in her students' achievements and often gives deserving ones a chance to teach at Meraki School of Art.
Sharada puts her ‘art’ and soul into running Meraki. And the result is there for everyone to see - from the stunning art pieces that dot the gallery to a small army of her students. All of which stems from her undying love for art.
